After receiving one Moderna shot on July 2, 2021, Vienna says she woke up two days later preparing for a 20-kilometre run when she felt a “pop” in the back of her head, lost her sight and immediately lost the ability to walk. “I knew right away that I was having a stroke.” Vienna says she suffered a severe cerebellar stroke, followed by a brain hemorrhage three days later. She testified that she has now suffered almost 12 strokes and walks with a cane. She also testified that the head stroke doctor at Vancouver General Hospital privately acknowledged her VX injury but told her she could not speak about it. “The head stroke doc at VGH did tell me in private that she would lose her license if she spoke about it. I said, ‘But you’re willing to let me die?’” Vienna says she mainly took the VX so she could continue working and travel to see her children and grandson.
