About this video
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs determined that Lindy Ayers-Mattingly’s disability (heart problems, muscle pain, extreme fatigue, neurological symptoms and eventually becoming unable to walk, talk, feed herself or even recognize everyday objects) was due to the residuals of the CV VX, rating her 100% total and permanently disabled, according to the disability paperwork.
Lindy, a Coast Guard service member, says she went from being an elite-level athlete preparing for diver school to becoming severely disabled after VX.
Lindy also describes the pressure she faced before VX, saying she was warned she could be discharged and lose her benefits if she refused.
Her story shows the human side of the military VX mandate — and what she says happened after she complied.
