Within two weeks of his second dose, Grant says he developed nosebleeds, petechiae and bleeding throughout his body. At the hospital, his platelet count was just 4 and later dropped to zero. He was diagnosed with ITP (immune thrombocytopenia) and testified that he was bleeding from his gums, nose, urine and broken areas of skin. Months later, Grant says he developed deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms, with blood clots travelling from his leg into his lungs. He testified that the resulting lung damage reduced his breathing capacity and permanently limited the active lifestyle he had before.
